St.ives Cornwall Chamber Of Trade & Commerce
We are the town’s business membership organisation. We offer a membership service for local businesses to help raise their profile, generate new trading opportunities and offer support and information, as well as represent your business to make sure your voice is heard at local and county level. Membership also provides you with access to business contacts, networking events, current local business information and much more.
Our aim is to promote, represent and inform our members. We listen, raise concerns, encourage business and offer support and guidance - all to help develop a vibrant and sustainable business community in the St Ives, Carbis Bay and Lelant areas.
Aims and Objectives
Promotion and protection of the business community
Collection, discussion and distribution of information affecting business interests of members
Co-operation with other groups and associations having similar objectives
Promotion of charitable and social functions
Working with Cornwall Council and St. Ives Town Council
The Chamber is now working with closely both organisations on local issues directly affecting local businesses.
Current issues include:
Licencing Applications for street traders
Use of graphics and ‘A’ boards around town
Planning applications for local businesses in the town
Markets currently in town
The Chamber is now actively involved in many areas helping YOUR business to be more successful and profitable.
Do I have to attend lots of meetings?
No. Eacg year we old an AGM and at least two open meetings for membersand non-members. You are welcome to come along, but are not obliged to. We also hold 8-10 committee meetings per year which are attended by the main committe, member representatives and members on request.
If my business has an issue it would like to raise, how do I do it?
If you have a business concern or question and you would like to raise it with the Chamber then as a member you can do it either at one of the open meetings or by emailing us.
How is the Chamber structured?
The Chamber has an elected main committee consisting of a Chairperson, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Town Council Representative, plus a group of member representatives. All volunteer their own time.
Where does my membership subscription go?
Solely towards funding the activities of the Chamber and supporting local initiatives.
Is my business too small to join?
No. Members range from sole traders to large organisations. We actively welcome businesses of any size to join the St Ives Chamber.
